This may be normal, but would you confirm?

Okay, so about 11 days out. I am feeling somewhat respectable EXCEPT...

Radiating from the large incision area, wrapping over the flank. As I was standing in church today I put my hand on my waist and about jumped trough the roof. But, when I sit or lie I can poke and prod all over with no problem. I can feel it when I step also which has made walking a low priority. I am worried about a tear or something along those lines...any feedback appreciAted!

Personally, my large incision site didn't feel better until 14 days out...  The twisting motion from getting in and out of the car always made it more pronounced, but that's just me.  I hope it passes for you soon!

Call the doc to check tomorrow since the pain was so intense -- but I'm thinking it's normal.  Calling will confirm, and that way you won't worry!

I think that was the worst pain I dealt with after surgery, was teaching myself how to move again.. No more "plopping" into my car, no more reaching for the door, etc.. You've just had an instrument go through all your fat and abdominal muscles.. If the pain goes away, within a few minutes, I'd say you moved the wrong way.. If it lasts a while, I'd see your doctor.. but usually nausea and vomiting, fever, etc, follow with a tear (or so I was told by my surgeon)..

Since it's when you are standing and walking - I think it is probably gravity dragging your tummy down so it is more tender at that point.  When you sit or lay down, gravity is no longer pulling it...  Call the doc and check, but don't stress over it!

Thanks everyone! I can't wait until I don't have a dewlap that gravity can pull on!
