Complications of VSG vs. RNY?
Wow what an experience to survive a leak that lasted a year. That was and still is my biggest fear of the surgery. How far post op were you when they found the leak? Preop I had heard that leaks are usually found within the first 10 days. But just in the last two weeks I have seen 2 leaks posted on OH that had shown up much later post op on both individuals. Scary thing. I'm so glad you go through it.

I'm 2.5 weeks out. No complications other than normal surgery ups and downs. I have heard the complication rate for VSG is about 1/2 as it is for RNY. So there definitely are but about 50% less to the RNY.

My vsg complication was that the ****** it up cut the wrong spot and made me unsleeveable due to scarring and blood flow issues.
my rny complications have been a leak, and several internal infections, my RNY is resectional which means I had all bar the pouch removed.
obviously my first choice was the sleeve, I wanted to be able to take NSAIDS if needed( which I can as I have no blind stomach to get undetectable ulcers in)
