Hi All - I am currently buying Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacent Shakes from my doctors office for $60 a bag. Has anyone found any meal replacement protein shakes that are less pricey? I like the convenience of the meal replacement shakes. Thank you

Hi There- I just looked up the nutrition information of these real quick and assuming I have the right ones, I would say stop wasting your money! You can buy the Premier Protein Shakes (Chocolate or Vanilla). I was getting the 11oz bottles, 18 pack for $25 at Sam's/Costco's!

They have 160 calories

30 grams of protein

1 sugar

5 carbs

I say stop wasting that money and switch to Premier, they are my favorite ready to drink shake!

Are those considered to be meal replacement shakes or a protein supplement?

They're a protein supplement. If your doctor wants you on a meal replacement, ask him for other options - there are other brands out there. If he's ok with just protein you'll get lots of ideas from the people here.

My post op plan will be to drink Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast. Check with your NUT for recommendations. Good Luck, 60 dollars a bag is really expensive!!

just be aware there is no such thing as "sugar free carnation instant breakfast". there   IS "no sugar added carnation instant breakfast" but once you mix it with milk it has quite a bit of sugar and carbs in it in it. not much protein for the sugar and calories either

My program recommends it and it's tough to follow others on here because it seems like everyone is SO different. The three week post op plan calls for the no sugar added carnation instant breakfast mixed with 1% or 2% milk. 6 grams of protein per 4 ounce serving, 8 times a day. That's how they have it listed.
