Ok, I'm 13 months post-op and within the past week I've noticed that I'm not getting full as quick as I used to.  Is this normal and what can I do to get back to not eating as much?  I want to kill this before it becomes a problem.  I have been eating things that I shouldn't have, but I'm restricting myself from sweets as of now.  I refuse to go back to old habits of eating large amounts of food.  Any suggestions?

My advice is to try to do a day or 2 of just protein shakes. Or maybe protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then lean protein for dinner. Lots of water. Think about your stomach acid...need a PPI?

I'll try tha****er has always been a problem for me but lately I have been getting some water in, which is good.  I'll try a protein shake for breakfast and one for dinner.  Can you elaborate more about the stomach acid?

I didn't realize there was something called "silent heartburn". I used to say that I never got heart burn but in reality I had a ton of acid that mimicked hunger. I felt hungry 30-45min after a full meal. I felt like I had a bottomless pit. Since my VSG I have been taking a PPI which prevents the acid from producing. I don't feel that hunger after eating where pre PPI I would actually feel like I was hungry when in reality it was my stomach acid over producing. Just a suggestion to look in to.
I notice when my eating is off for a few days, going back to liquids/shakes helps tighten up my restriction.

Ok, I do have a PPI to take.  I've been doing some research and I appear to be having the same symptoms.  I get the gurgling sound in my stomach a lot, matter of fact it's gurgling now, didn't know that's what it was.  Thanks for the help!

You will find as time goes on you can eat more especially bread crackers easy bad carbs its normal try to get back to dense protein first it will help make sure to weigh everyday and don't allow yourself to go up more than three lbs I am almost 5 years out sometimes I am shocked at how much I can eat now and sometimes I can hardly eat anything I just keep it in check not allowing the scale to go up more than three pounds if it does I'm right back to protein only you can do this

Everyone is different, but I'm 21+ months out now and I can eat 600-800 calories easily as long as I stick with the program. I can also eat 2500 calories if I really put my mind to it. LOL!

For ME, the key is carbs. Carbs make my cravings kick in. I try to stay under 40 carbs. The first few days are killer, but after that, I don't even care and can forget to eat LOL.

Water - I have a rule with myself. I start out my day with a big cup of black coffee and a bottle of water. Kid to school, then another bottle of water, then breakfast. I don't allow myself breakfast until I have in those 6 cups (or 4). Then I drink another before I allow myself to have lunch. Then another one before my snack. Another before dinner. Another before I go to bed. Get into a habit and get into a rhythm. I'm kind of boring in that I eat the same basic stuff every day. But it works for me.

Don't get me wrong, I splurge now and then. I screw up now and then. The real test is getting back on the rails.
