There is probably info out there on line, or from your surgeon. I just googled it and got a zillion hits.

It works if you work it; it sorta works if you sorta work it; and it doesn't work if you don't work it.

You could drive yourself crazy with these questions, we all did...
My thinking changed to what are the risks if I DON'T do this..
Better way to think about it..

That's very subjective.  I think a lot depends on pre-existing health conditions, general health status at the time of surgery, surgeon's level of competence, postop care and self-care, commitment to lifestyle change ...

I think the most potential risk of this surgery, say, over any surgery, is leakage.  That's pretty rare, though, and it's tested for immediately after the surgery.  But like the comment above, so much depends of the health of the patient, etc...

Each doctor has a complication % of their own. You happen to have one of the best surgeons there is, imo. He is the one you need to ask. IMO, you are in good hands.

The good news is that you have one of the best VSG surgeons out there.  You should be in great hands.  Some of the complications could be a leak (pretty serious), a stricture, constipation, heartburn and GERD, nausea and vomiting.  For most Sleevers, they only have a few little complications that are easy to manage, like the constipation and heartburn.

Dr. Cirangle's complication rates are lower than average.  His actual risks and rate of occurrence should be in the folder you got at your first consultation (I think they are actually printed on the folder, but I could be wrong).

On an unrelated note:  I am an Okie transplanted to CA--go Sooners!

I hope I'll see you at a support group meeting at some point. :)
