Sleeved 6/17/13: still in hospital
Thanks for all of the prayers and messages!! The surgeon removed my tubes today and so far I haven't vomited (@6 hours has passed). I have an IV inserted into my veins running in almost to my heart. I will be going home on IV to get my nutrients and a home health nurse will come out. The good news is that when he did the swallow test today, some of the contrast got thru to my stomach (huge improvement from the last 3 days ) so no tubes to see how my body will respond at home. Hopefully I get to go home tomorrow night. If I can't eat foods within the next 1-2 months, I will have to have the RNY.
So, I'm trying to be positive. I'm sure I've lost weight this week but I'm blowed up with IV fluids. They are attempting to dehydrate me some to hold down swelling.
Keep praying!!!

Hi there,
Sending you pos thoughts and prayers.
I had my surgery on 4/10/13. When I went the next day for the swallow test, very little was getting through. I was very swollen and remained that way. I was one who came home and whilee every surg pt, or so it seemed, at my time could drink unlimited, here i was lucky to get 20 oz/24 hrs. I didnt turn the corner till the 4th week. I'm almost 10 weeks out now and still am only able to get in about 56 oz and that includes my lactaid milk. I just last week was able to add Unjury to my milk...no kind of protein shake and i were getting along. Just keep in mind that we are all different, our bodies respond differently. Take it slow and take care.
tia
