Just got home...

Two days post op and feeling aweful. Please tell me the pain goes away quickly? I had a few moments in the hospital of thinking I made the biggest mistake of my life. I have absolutely no appetite and can't take pain meds because it makes me gag.
Tell me this is short lived??

It does get better.  Try really hard to sip water.  No appetite is normal.  I'm 16 days out and I feel better each day.  Be kind to yourself - you've just had major surgery.

I promise you it gets better. I had a really tough time for the first 10 days and then turned a corner! i am only 18 days out and feel SO, SO, SO much better!

I'm with ya... my surgery was yesterday and I feel awful. I'm lucky that I'm not in much pain, although I'd kill for a bowel movement at the point. lol. Like you I have no appetite so I'm focused on hydration. I don't want to end up back in the hospital for being dehydrated. My body has been through enough. Sip sip sip... and walk walk walk. It has to get better.

It does get so much better.  Have you tried liquid Tylenol?  I didn't do pain meds either because of the nausea, but liquid Tylenol sure took the edge off.

It may sound gross, FYI:  you can get most pain medicine and definitely medicine to help with nausea in suppositories!  Surprisingly,  they react very quickly in your system.  Not the funnest answer but if taking pills doesn't work and you hate the taste of liquid this might be an option for you.  Just a thought!
