Had my 3 mt check up with my endocrinologist, since surgery I have taken myself of Victoza, levemir and gliperide as I have been. Carefully monitoring my blood sugars taking 1 metformin at nite if needed ( b.s over 180)
Anywho...he ran my # from my meter and looked at my bloodwork and told me...
I NO LONGER HAVE TO TAKE THE METFORMIN!!!!
My A1C was 5.9 and was taken a month after surgery!!( I'm 10 weeks out now)
I've been on metformin for 14 YRS!!!
I am SOOO HAPPY I had the VSG!!
Just had to share...ANYONE who is thinking this surgery ESPECIALLY if you also have co-morbities Find a great surgeon and RUN don't WALK to do this for yourself!!

Yay!!!! So happy for u! I'm looking forward to not needing cholesterol meds. At 31 with 650 triglycerides is pretty scary.

My triglycerides were out of control too.,
Once had a bloodwork come back at 2400!
I thought my dr was gonna drop!!
I told him the test wasn't fair, it was right after Christmas AND I did eat a whole cheesecake by myself!!
He was NOT happy!! LOL!!

Awesome news!  And a good reminder that this surgery is about so much more than dropping pounds/dress sizes. :)
