So lost...menu analysis help? (REPOST)
I guess noone could reply to the other post for some reason.....
Anyway, I had my surgery on July 22nd and I know I am not getting in the right about of water, protein, calories or anything.
Today I officially started my "pureed" stage AND I went back to work, as well. I am beginning my 4th week out.
If I manage to get all this food in plus 4 bottles of water, is this what my diet should look like during this stage? I have no idea how many calories or anything else I should be having at this stage.....but I know my weightloss pretty much stalled out.
This is the "menu" I came up with for today:
Breakfast - EAS Protein shake
Snack - 1/2 cup 2% cottage cheese
Lunch - Campbell's Soup at Hand, Creamy Chicken
Snack - Low Sodium V8
Dinner - Tuna Salad w/light Miracle Whip and Dill Pickle
Snack - Unjury Chicken Soup
Calories - 592
Protein - 69
Carbs - 37
Fat - 19

You are at what some call the 3 week stall but I didn't get mine until the 4th or 5th week. Your food looks okay for the stage you are in but once you are on solid dense protein, I would cut out the cream soups and I don't know how many carbs in the pudding. Just stick with your program and the weight will start coming off again. Always shoot for your doctor's protein goals and water goals first.
Yea, I just ditched the pudding....way too many carbs and no protein. No point. It brought my carbs down alot. It looks like I might have to find a lower carb yogurt as well. I might add a cup of Unjury Chicken soup after dinner. I wish I could just find some meal plans for this stage that arent too high prep.

I don't claim to be an expert or even that much of a vet.... but I figure nobody is responding to you, so here goes...
It doesn't look bad, but I have a feeling you wont get it all in. I can eat more than most, but at that stage, I couldn't even get all that in. do your best, but maybe have a second shake to bump up the protein instead of the yogurt (unless it is close in protein).
Just my suggestion... I know I felt better the more protein I could take in. I know it isn't what everyone thinks, but my program said not to focus on calories at the point, but protein, so sometimes I would even have half a protein bar (there are some nice soft quest bars out there) and it isn't a large volume of food for a good bump in protein.
Good luck. you are going to do great!
I got the carbs down to 37 for today and took out the yugurt. I'd rather just skip the yogurt.
The only yogurt I can stand is Very Cherry Yoplait Light. Greek yogurt is terrible to me.
As far as the cream soups or whatever...I don't know what I can have for lunch at work, so I bought "soup at hand" creamy chicken and tomato. What else can I do?

protein shakes
deli turkey or ham -- both 98% fat free
low-fat string cheese or Laughing Cow cheese
chicken or egg salad made with low-fat mayo
flaky broiled or baked fish
canned tuna in water
canned chicken in broth or water
very lean ground beef or turkey
unsweetened applesauce
Greek yogurt with sugar-free syrup (only mentioned in case you haven't tried it with the syrup)
MorningStar Farms Original Grillers veggie burger (no bun or bread)
skim or 1% milk
cooked and mashed soft vegetables
All portable. If you have a fridge at work, no problem. If you have an insulated lunch bag and a refreezeable ice pack or two, no problem.
I pureed many of the items on that list or else chewed them thoroughly.
Do you have a list from your surgeon or nutritionist listing what they want you to eat at this stage?
1% Cottage Cheese might be a better choice instead of soup or regular yogurt. You have listed tuna as an option. Maybe try some shrimp ****tail and chew it up very well. Also I like talipia. Also I like Salmon but it does not sit with me as well since I had surgery. Any of the fishes are good first options for when you are just starting out on protein and easy to get down.
This all will be easier when you can eat actual dense protein up until then I was just in a survival mode and I ate things that were soft that I would not dare eat now.
