Day 1 of my journey to have a sleeve
Had my consultation today at noon. After a discussion about the D/S being better for someone with a higher BMI, he will do the sleeve. He kinda dropped the d/s discussion when I explained I loved my band, I lost 200 lbs with the band, and if I thought I could keep the band in me, I would go back to it.
Have an appointment with the GP on Tuesday to start the infamous 6 month diet. On their scales, I was down to 345 which surprised me with the fast food I've been eating lately. I am now to wait for the Insurance specialist, dietitian, and trainer to call me from the http://www.bmiut.com/ to contact me. I'm impressed they have a trainer, but since its about 5-6 hours away, I don't see myself visiting very often (is included in the fee's).
I was impressed with Dr. Cottam. From my research I know he is knowledgeable and skilled. Only thing I could dig up on the internet was a flub up by the anesthesiologist and it was a serious flub up. The patient noted the hospital had retrained the staff to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Looking forward to this journey and finding a freedom from my physical chains. It may have been 8 years since I've weighed 200 lbs, but my mind still craves going on walks, going to the fair, mowing the lawn, **** even doing the friggin dishes without spasms. No guarantee's the weight loss will cure my back problems but will be a giant step forward.

Every journey starts with step one so congratulations. I also had a band, but I didn't have success with it. I now have a sleeve and I can tell you the constant hunger that I had with the band is gone with the sleeve. It feels great not to be constantly thinking of food or feeling like I am deprived, even though right now I am only on full liquids 9 days postop. Good Luck!
