help do I eat the day before surgery

Dr. put me on a 2 week liver shrinking diet well friday is my surgery date and he didnt say anything about only consuming liquids on tuesday im going to call him but what was your experiences?

Every doctor's plan is different, including the pre op diet. I was on a liver shrinking diet (not liquids, but high protein/low carb/low fat diet) for a week before surgery. I had my pre op testing the day before my surgery with fasting labs and after that I was told I could eat whatever I wanted the rest of the day, just nothing after 10 pm. So you'll just have to find out what your surgeon wants you to do.

I had two week low carb diet, then the day before surgery I was only allowed clear fluids.

Some do clear liquids a day or two before and others do a colon cleanse but I think the minimum norm is nothing after midnight the night before surgery. Bottom line is that you don't want any food in your stomach or upper intestines.

I had no preop diet just clear liquids the day before.

I have been on the stage 2 post op diet for 10 days before surgery which is protein drinks that can include milk. Otherwise nothing after midnight the night before surgery

My plan states 2 weeks of optifast, then 2 days of clear fluids only (no shakes) 2 days before surgery then clear fluids only 2 days after surgery. So all surgeons have a different plan.

I am on 2 weeks of High Protein/low carb.  Then at 6:00pm the night before surgery, I go to full liquids.  Then day of is clear liquids.
