Hey guys

I am 2 weeks (and 2 days, but whos counting) out today and I've only lost 14 pounds.  My problem isnt with how much I've lost, but that the scale hasnt moved for an entire week! Day 10 I had lost 14 pounds and It hasnt moved since.

I know there are plateaus, but I never heard of one after 10 days... I was expecting one maybe 3 or 4 weeks out, not THIS quick!   Is this normal?  Please let me know!

Normal for many people. The body is unpredictable while initially healing. Some drop 20 pounds in a week and a half, while some don't lose ANY the first few weeks. Keep getting your protein and your water as best you can and the scale will move. I know it's frustrating :( Just stay the course!!

It IS hard to get fluids and protein in those early days!! Just make it a goal every day to do better than you did yesterday. That's the best we can do :)

Hey Marissa! You are down 14 pounds?! In less than 3 weeks? That's awesome! That would have never happened before, would it? I think you are doing great! My only advice would be to put away the scale. Mine is broken and I don't feel like wasting the money in a new one (saving every dollar for cute new clothes). It's also a fun suprise to wait to be weighed!

Me too me too me too!!!  I'm right around the same surgery date as you and the scale has STOPPED for the past week too!  VERY frustrating and a little depressing, but I'll hang in there with ya.

I had surgery on 12/9 and have been stuck for the last two weeks. In fact, I have actually gone up and down the same four pounds during this time. I am assuming some of it is not going to the bathroom regularly, but everyone says this is normal to stall. Just stay the course and hopefully one day we will hop on the scale and it will be moving in the right direction again. Good luck!

This was my reply to a similar post yesterday. Remember this is a lifelong marathon, not a sprint. This is about making lasting changes. Be patient and stick to the program:

You are not stalled. You are healing. You will hit your first real stall around 6 weeks post-op. Right now all bets are off as to which way the scale will go. One day you will be retaining water, the next day you will dump it. Your body is adjusting to its new caloric intake and its still working very hard to heal.   The absolute most important thing you can do right now is to make sure you are hitting your protein and water targets. The water will help to heal and flush and the protein is the building blocks of your body so very very important to the healing process.
