my husband is having surgery
Welcome! Just come to the forum everyday and read the posts. You'll find all kinds of useful information. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask!
Jane
1) Make him take it easy and follow his post op diet plan.
2) Forgive him for being moody. His body will be flooded with hormones during rapid weight loss.
3) Find the "good" thrift stores in your area. He's going to be going through clothes like he's back in puberty soon!
4) Get him on this site! There are too few male voices around here and we ALWAYS value their opinions!
5) Keep up this enthusiasm... There will be times in the future that he may want to jump off the wagon and eat something that isn't on plan. We all have them. Be his rock!

Google NSNG and learn the right way to eat each day
Congratulations to your husband and you. I agree with the last poster you will learn sooooo much info here and everyone is so helpful just ask your questions and someone will get back to you. Also up top of the page on the magnifying glass there is a search bar and just type in anything you can't find posted... lots of archives. Also Dr. Alvarez from endobariatric has a lot of videos on YouTube about different aspects of VSG pre and post op as well as WLS in general. Hope this helps...Good Luck
Reading posts here every day, and then researching any questions I have that arise, is the best thing I've done to prepare myself for surgery I think :)

Buy tiny containers to portion leftovers to freeze because otherwise you'll be throwing away food as it ages in the refrigerator. I had no idea how much I was consuming bu****ching leftovers sit (they were usually mine...the rest of my family doesn't love leftovers) is really eye-opening!
Research recipes that you can both enjoy so you, or he, are not having to fix something separate. It's really depressing to be the only one at the table eating something different. I did that a few times and then after that made my family eat what I eat! :-)
Be prepared for a roller coaster ride! There are some real ups and downs as we lose a coping mechanism (eating) and have to figure out new ways to handle happy, sad, bored, etc...
Good luck!
