NSV, SV Goal! & Aching Bones!?!?
Well, I officially hit my goal of 175. That's 100 down from start of this process, and 125 from my high weight. It's pretty amazing! Looking at old pictures is crazy. I can't believe it's the same person. My son held up a picture and said it was a picture of me but I had a new face. Ha, new body too!
I also took a follow-up sleep study to see if my obstructive sleep apnea was still an issue, and bam, it's been resolved. No need to use the CPAP anymore! Yeah!
I'm so much more active now. Doing crossfit, running with the dog, getting ready for a 5K and an obstacle race run, and the results are really starting to show. The only thing is that I can't wait to bulk up a bit because sit ups and lifting weights put all this pressure on my bones now that I lack padding. I mean, everyone talks about their tailbone, and I have that too, but who would have thought that sit ups would bruise my spine??? Crazy. My sternum pokes out a bit now too, and I've clipped it with a barbell a couple times doing presses--that'll wake you up, let me tell you!!!
Now, I have to decide the best way to maintain, or if I want to try to make it to 165 where I would be in the normal BMI range. But I think the BMI calculation is arbitrary without taking into account body type. I am a pretty wide-shouldered guy, and I might be in the sweet spot right where I am--and I think the weight might go up a bit as I get stronger. We shall see.
Thanks to everyone on this board. You have all been inspirations and strong motivators. I wish you all the best in your personal journeys, and I hope to keep reporting back with good news (fight the dreaded regain!!!!).
Wow! Congratulations on reaching goal and all you have to celebrate! You've worked hard and I'm so happy it's all paid off.

Wow! How great you are. I know what you mean about BMI. I am a few points higher too. The BMI doesn't take into consideration muscle mass either. You are active and weigh heavier because of muscle mass. If you like how you look, that's the answer. My cardiologist is giving me a hard time about being 8 to 10 pounds too much so I am trying to lose at least part of the extra weight. Good luck with all you are doing.
Congrats! Have you considered switching to a body fat based goal?
