Best vitamins and calcium for pre and post-op

I finally have a surgery date (June 17) and am now in the process of preparing for the pre and post-op phases.  I'm trying a variety of protein shakes before my two week pre-op diet but I"m stumped as to which multivitamin and calcium supplements to choose.  Any recommendations of things that go down easy and, most importantly, stay down?

Thank you!

Kate

I love the bariatric advantage peanut butter chocolate calcium chews. They're tasty.

I use bariatric advantage orange multivitamin and it's fine.

People might recommend Flinstones chewable and gummies but it's worth noting that the chewable are missing almost half of our daily recommended vitamins and minerals and the gummies are missing even more. So you might want to skip those.

I like the Bariatric Caramel Calcium chews (500 mg).  I take three per day.  Some people complain about the cost, but believe me, I spent much more on junk food each month than I ever will on vitamins.  I figure at this point, I'm worth it

I used to take the Bariatric Advantage Berry Multivitamins, but I couldn't stand the taste or texture.  Now I take Celebrate Mandarin Orange Multivitamins and I like them so much better. They taste like baby aspirin to me.

And Gwen is right about avoiding the Flintstones chewables and gummies.  They don't contain all the essential minerals that we need as WLS patients.  Avoid them if you can.

I also take D3 (5,000 IU) daily and B1 (100 mg) daily, along with B12 Sublingual four times per week.  The D3 I buy from Costco; the B1 and B12 from Bariatric Advantage.

Before labs, I had to take calcium and D3 and two multis a day.  After labs I had to add zinc.  Based on what I have researched, extra zinc is needed/recommended for healing after surgery.  Many need iron and I loved the Bariatric Advantage for the iron.
