Stalling early out

Hi Everyone,

I had a VSG on Mary 24th and I am five weeks out. I lost 20 lbs in the first two weeks and have been stuck since then.  I would love some suggestions about how to break this stall.  It is driving me crazy.  I am trying to eat protein first and get all of my water in.  Water is my nemesis! Thanks so much!

I know I probably just need to be patient!

Hi,

I am just over 12 weeks out, and have experienced like three 7-9 day stalls and just got past a near 1 month stall. I think it is just our bodies trying to catch up to the major change we put it through. Although stalls are EXTREMELY frustrating, they will pass :) You will start loosing again. Hang in there and just keep following the plan.

I experienced a 2-week stall wherein I actually even gained a pound during my second month out. Go figure. The stall finally broke a few days ago, and I'm losing weight again, but I totally understand the fear and anxiety. I lost 25 pounds the first month, and only 7 pounds the second.

In the end, though, when I look at my stats for the first two months, I realize that I still managed to meet and surpass the average of 20 pounds the first month and 10 pounds the second. My conclusion is that as long as you are following your doctor and nutritionist's plan, the stalls don't matter. I did get a consult with the nutritionist, and she made some helpful suggestions, specifically adding in two mini-meals consisting of veggies in between my three main protein meals and one protein drink a day. I am trying to do that, or a version of that.

Yup, patience is the key. It's not going to fall off overnight, and you have to be patient with the stops and starts your body requires to adjust. Hang in there!

Stalls are super common.  Stick to your plan, get in all of your water and protein, and you'll be successful.  I also recommend TrendWeight.  It makes it so much easier to stay encouraged when your weight is stalling.

Just keep following your plan.  track your food and make sure you are drinking enough.  I found that I will lose steadily for a week or two, then stall out for a week, then lose again.  I have a stair-step pattern - I lose 6ish pounds and my body freaks out, holds on for a week and then drops again.

You will learn your pattern, and if you are following your plan you will know that it isn't anything you are doing wrong...just that your body needs time to adjust and shif****er around so it can keep burning fat.

I'm going to lose more in Month 4 than I did in Month 3 b/c Month 3 had 2 slow weeks in it.

Cutecanadiangirl,

I just got the scale to move yesterday after a 3 week stall!!  I swear someone super glued it in place! I could have screamed from the mountain tops when it finally dropped 2 lbs!  Frustrating, so very frustrating.  I did up my protein and am trying very hard to increase my water intake too!

It took me many many years to put it on, it will take time to take it off!  Michelle
