It's been almost 2 weeks sense vsg. I was told to move to mushies last week. I can also have cheese and shaved meat. I had a small cucumber in the fridge. I had 4 slices of cucumbers and 2oz of oven roasted chicken. I feel fine. I chewed and chewed. I put sent a picture to one of my friends who also had vsg and she freaked out! Said I never should have eaten cucumbers or any vegetables for weeks. Is that true? I know its protein first but they were 4 THIN slices. It was cold, juicy and crunchy and tasted great with my chicken Was I wrong?

Every program has different rules.  Follow what your program says.  I couldn't have raw veggies until 3 months post-op with the exception of lettuce and tomatoes which were allowed sooner. I'm glad you are feeling ok. It'll probably be fine if it doesn't cause you any pain.

best wishes,

Carol

I was told no raw veggies for 6 months, especially ones with seeds (like cukes) because they can get in the staple line. Be careful.

Omg. I wasn't even thinking about the seeds. I went back and read my papers. It says hard seeds. I hope I chewed them enough. Thank you so much. I won't be eating cucumbers for a while. This is just 1 reason I love OH!

I did not have rules regarding raw vegetables.  My rules were about consistency that I chewed to.  I say you follow your surgeon's plan and you'll be fine.  If you're not sure, call your surgeon and ask.  Your friend needs to encourage you to follow the advice of your surgeon, not whatever she does.

Thank you Tricia! It's on my "to do" list. I'll call in the morning.I feel so lucky that I have been feeling so good adding in real food. I have followed everything to the letter. I can't believe I might have been thrown off track by 4 thin slices of cucumber.  Lol.....

Cucumbers were on my don't even think about it until 6 months out list.  I was able to start some raw veggies (a specific list) at 3 months out, but others I had to wait until 6 months out.
