Happyteacher,

Thank you for these encouraging words! I return to work in 1 week, and I am NOT looking forward to it. Your words are so uplifting!

Thanks!! I also wish all the teachers here a happy year. Tomorrow is our first day of classes. I love my kids. They always make me laugh. As happy as I am with my job, I am just as happy knowing that after this year I only have 5 more until I can retire and move back to Auburn (I will most likely teach longer but I like knowing i can retire soon)

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. We started school about 6 weeks ago and have already had 3 of the sugar filled events. I know many more are to come.

Great Post...Excited about the new year, although I am in my 13th year I still get stomach butterflies the nite before the 1st day!!

I had RNY close to 4 years ago and agree the sugar and sweet presence in schools is overwhelming at times.  In order to deal with this I stock up on healthy snacks and if people are sitting at events with sweets I just have one of my healthy snacks!!

Happy New Year to all of my fellow Educators..make this the best year of your career!!

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

Thank you!  We are back at it with kids tomorrow--last week was all the staff meetings and prep time.

I hope your first day back is a good one as well, and that your year is outstanding. :)

Thanks for the encouragement. I have my first full year assignment. I will have 30 7-12th graders for independent study. I start meeting them tomorrow. The past week has been meetings and training and I feel like I just took a drink of water with a fire hose. I also have an hour commute each way, but teaching jobs in my area are hard to get, so I will go where the work is.

I see this and I smile! I don't actually work as a teacher but I work in Special Education as a Treasurer. I've got 3 friends here that are a Teacher, a School Psychologist, and a Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing. All 3 of them asked me why I didn't do my upcoming (September 10th) surgery during the summer like them since it's so much slower than the beginning of the school year (we've been back in for 4 weeks now). Truth of the matter is that my schedule SLOWS down after the year gets going!

Good luck to all returning to school! :)
