Going from insanely obese to normal obese
I was thinking this morning that while I am still obese, it is such a huge relief to no longer be in the extremely overweight phase of my life.
I know some of you will relate. At my highest weight, I couldn't buckle my car's seatbelt. I ordered an extender but for a week, I went without. I had to sidle my way into my car and perform all kinds of weird twisting to get out.
On two separate occasions, I sat in chairs and they collapsed. Yes, that happened to me... twice. I dreaded going to a friend's house in case their furniture wasn't super stable.
I was a 32W and 5-6x. I could no longer shop at Lane Bryant. I dressed out of Woman Within (worst name EVER) for a year. Their clothes are so gross and cheaply made. As much as I don't care for Lane Bryant on many levels, it's a relief to fit their clothes again.
I can even fit plus size departments in other stores, like Macy's or whatever (not that I'm going shopping there during the weight loss phase, but still).
I'm still fat, but it's like I'm normal fat now. I fit into the world a whole lot better. Given the state of obesity in America, I don't even stick out that much anymore. (Although I think at my heaviest, people didn't even look at me because that would be like looking into the sun or something.)
Existing is easier.
Kudos to you. You've made such wonderful progress already.
And your words really illustrate how you are feeling; how GOOD you are feeling about your incredible journey thus far. Isn't it such an amazing feeling to fit in better with our surroundings? Seriously. I get that. I do. You just FIT better. Physically. Psychologically. Emotionally. Everything jives just that much better and more smoothly.
Congratulations on your amazing loss thus far. You'll be even further before you know it! Don't blink, or you'll miss these exciting phases of the journey!
