I eat really spicy food myself. I love sirachi and Franks Red hot. I have never had a problem with it. I just want to add you have to be able to eat with out taking a drink. I can do that but others have issues with that. Good luck with everything.

Yay! I've been eating Chile my whole life, I can totally handle it without a drink so looks like I'm good to go!

Thanks!

You are welcome. I had weird looks at Subway when I was eating a salad with grilled chicken with sirachi and red hot and didn't want a drink and sat there eating it. LOL

The answer is two fold - - yes you can eat, how soon after surgery and if you can handle beef are the questions.

Protein is key with th sleeve. So if you can stomach ground beef, at first you can eat the 80/20 and what not but during weight loss you may want to shift to 90/10 or even leaner. You may want to consider as well switching to ground turkey or chicken. Is it the same, no. But all in all it does the purpose. A LOT of people have trouble with ground variety of meats, I did not struggle and actually started with ground beef and turkey 3 weeks out of the gate. I refused to eat pureed meats, so I used ground and chewed really well.

Also, in regard to the spicy-ness....it all depends on how your new tummy is going to react. I am 8 months out and can eat spicy foods in moderation. That being said, I do not suffer from horrible acid indigestion - which may be a problem post surgery. I would recommend ramping it up from mild to spicy as you head through your journey.

With all this being said, do not deviate from your surgeons or nutritionists plan up front. The first 4-6 weeks you are retraining your mind and your stomach on how to eat. Don't be focused on the "when" you can eat it again, focus on nuturing your new tummy with the foods you can eat, and everything eventually follows.

This makes sense. While I'll definitely OK it with my surgeon when the time comes, I'm just happy to know that one of my favorite condiments is not necessarily going to be a no no post op and this makes me happy! Plus I was looking up some information about it and it's really good for you!
