The Consult

I met with the surgeon yesterday. He told me about the procedure and how things work.  He explained some nutrition with me and the changes that will need to be made.  The Bariatric coordinator called me today and is going to get the notes from my doctor for the 6 month physician supervised weight loss attempt.   I still need to do one more visit for my 6th month. Hopefully my doctors notes will be satisfactory and everything else so I can get on the road to getting approved and get the surgery done ASAP.   So, tomorrow I will be calling to schedule my last (hopefully) doctor supervised visit.

Congrats Christy!  I finally got my auth today.  My surgery is Monday.  Blue Shield put me to the wire.  Dont know what insurance you have but they were crazy with the 6 month thing.  In September my doc was on vacation so my 4th month consultant (nutrition) was on the 4th of October and the 5th was the 28th of October.  They came back and pended it because there was only 26 days not 28 between appointments.  Can you believe that.  What 2 days difference would have changed anything. Funny thing is my nutritional counselor at my surgeons did another session wiyh me Monday which was only a couple weeks since the Nov and they approved it.  I hope everything goes smoothly for you!  I am excited for both of us. Thanks, Congratulations to you as well!  That is crazy what they did to you!  I am really hoping that my insurance will accept everything.  I guess for mine the notes have to be a certain way for the insurance company to accept them, which is something I didn't know about until I went to the seminar required by the surgeon, so I hope they will be sufficient.  I want to get this going as quickly as possible.  I'm excited for you! I pray you have a complication free surgery and speedy recovery!
