Found a pedometer I bought myself just before surgery, (2mths ago) while getting ready for holiday company.  The wonders of cleaning!!  I ride a stationary bike, not same action as walking, but didn't know if it would track movement that isn't walking? anyone know?

I wondered that too. A fried has a Fitbit and I asked him that because he rides alot - it tracks for him, but only about 1/3 of what it should when he rides vs walking.

My Fitbit tracks on my stationary bike. It count each full revolution as one step.

Where you wear it affects the calorie count, which I don't take into account. Putting it in my pocket, if i have one, gives a lot fewer calories than if i put it on my sock, but the same number of steps.

Also, if you wear your Fitbit or whatever on your wrist, you won't get "steps" while on a bike. But that type could potentially give you a lot of "steps" during sex. Or none, depending on which wrist you wear it.

Now how can I follow this up? My mind keeps going to steps & sex & running some type of experiment to figure which wrist to wear it on. lol

I have a friend, who, when he has a lazy day, wraps the Fitbit in a towel and throws it in the dryer on cool tumble for about an hour. It's amazing how active his Fitbit says he is, but somehow, he never seems to lose weight or get more fit. I just can't figure it out.

I find that the fitbit doesn't really count my steps as much whenever I ride my bike, it'll count some but not as much as when I just walk. However this just gives me an excuse to do more exercise. I'll ride my bike, then later on depending on how I feel, I'll go for a walk to get my steps in.

It doesn't really count it at all when I'm on a stationary bike, but it might be because I use a recumbent one.

I have a Jawbone Up Move and if you're using a bike you're supposed to clip it on your shoe to track properly.  The app also has lots of different activities to choose from so that it can accurately interpret the movements.
