Pasties- if you are from Michigan you know what I am talking about :)

I was at my town's farmers market this weekend and there was a vendor selling them.  They looked sooooooo good but the size would have been three meals for me!  And the pastry was very flaky looking.... I walked away... fast!

Probably a wise decision. :)

Concerning rutabaga...

My Dad and his family are from the Iron Range in MN (not sure if that quite qualifies as Arrowhead or not), but growing up in San Diego I thought it was strange that I was the only one of my friends who knew what a rutabaga was, AND had eaten it.  Then again, most of them didn't know what a loon, sauna, leech or walleye was either.

I've lived in MN my whole life and grew up eating rutabaga. We would eat it raw as a snack. So good!
