He has two actually! Joe Hill reminds me a lot of early Stephen King (pre-car accident). I haven't read anything by Owen King yet because he writes "literature." However, Owen and Stephen just released a book they co-wrote called Sleeping Beauties. I hope to read it once my brain is functioning post-op!

QOTD: I'm unsure, a lot of the books I read are fantasy. I will answer it this way though, the first book I ever read that really pushed me into a big reader was waaaay back in elementary school. The book was called Princess Nevermore, I got lost in the world of that book and I loved it so much that I actually managed to find it online recently and bought it. It was used from a library which made it even better for me.

Breakfast - Vanilla Protein shake with Pepperment Mocha SF syrup added in

Lunch - Left over Hunan Pork (extra spicy!)

Dinner - Maybe more left over pork or a shake because I am feeling extra lazy and tired

Snack - Cottage cheese

Oh yay, I get to participate!

Happy Saturday! Already walked 13 km this morning, and it was a chilly one. Have been gradually building up my cold weather gear (because I live in Phoenix, and "cold weather gear" is a completely alien concept), and I finally am not freeeeeezing on the weekend mornings when I go for walks. As autumn winds down, I need to focus on getting a hat with ear flaps and figuring out how scarfs/gaiters work (again, totally foreign to me...).

Made some scones this morning for card night tonight, first ever time I've tried these. They turned out fabulous! Everyone will enjoy them with the raspberry preserves.

QOTD: I've read too many books to even contemplate a real answer, but I'll offer up "The Scarlet Letter" as fodder. I read this book on my own in 6th grade, but then it was assigned reading in 7th, 9th, and 10th grade, by which time I had had quite enough of it (turned in my 7th grade work in 9th and 10th grade, teachers were clueless...). It's a dull, dull book (about what is supposed to be a "shocking, scandalous" subject), and the writing style is absolutely painful to plow through.

I say I am thankful for this book, mostly because being forced to read it repeatedly sparked some of the first real rebellion in me. It helped me learn that criticism, even learned criticism, has to be taken with a huge grain of salt. What one person calls a "classic" is another's "garbage"; the key is understanding why the determination was made, and then deciding where your opinion fits objectively.

B: protein shake

L: chicken in the air fryer!

D: beef and broccoli

E: 8 mile walk

I really enjoyed Scarlet Letter. I have memories of reading it on a plane on the way home from a summer camping trip since it was required summer reading for me. Probably before 9th grade.
