My hair turned curly after RNY......

I forgot to mention that my hair is curly now :o).
I started noticing more body in my hair by my 3rd month post-op. I always dry my hair out straight and with it being all one length, I didn't notice the change as much.
I had my hair cut in a layered shag cut a few days ago and everywhere but the top of my head is covered in tight ringlets now, lol.
My stylist said he's seen that happen before as our hair changes texture every 7 yrs ...
My hair was curly as a toddler but bone straight the rest of my lifetime.
Cody took a picture of my new curls... a little blurry but you can still see what I mean :o).
My new curls
I guess the hormone changes with the RNY turned my hair curly :o).
I love it !

Changes in hair is common to RNY post ops. Those with straight hair may end up with curly hair. Curly hair may become straight. Soft hair can become coarse in texture, or the reverse. If you attend any support meeting, you'll hear this from fellow members of that group. DAVE

Why is this? I mean, how does it happen.

I knew my body would go through chemical changes but never heard anyone mention changes in hair texture. I'm not complaining though. I love my curls :O).

It is not just RNY folks, it's all of us.

I have always battled long, straight, stringy hair.  Since my sleeve it is nothing but locks of curls.  I really do not know what I will do with all these curls!

Mine did too after I lost it - it came back in curly and thicker.  Can't complain about that!  :o)

No more perms, lol!
BTW, I can't imagine you going any thinner than your current weight. You look great!

Yep - I can just wash and go now.

Thanks, I have been at 145 since January, so I don't think my body wants to go any smaller either... LOL...  (I fluctuate between 145 - 147)

When my lost hair grew back, it all came back grey!  Curls would have been more welcomed.  :-)

Actually when I was a little girl my hair was pin straight.  My mom would try and put it in curlers or use a hot iron -- she wanted me to have ringlets so bad!  But nothing would curl in it at all.  Now it's much more wavy and if I coax it, I can get a curly look.

My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

A friend of mine's hair all came back in grey and curly after losing her hair to chemotherapy a few years back. When you mentioned yours turned grey, it reminded me of that :o).
