Thank you, Elizabeth :-)  That is actually very encouraging information.
I still have a positive feeling that the surgery will go through as scheduled, I just really wish the doctor would confirm that.  She has now had the test results for two full days & still maintains that she's been "too busy" to look at them.  Argh!!!  If everything is fine, then great -- I can just relax & wait out the next few days.  But if there is still some question about my heart health I am quickly running out of time for any more pre-surgical tests.
I called my surgeon's office again today to see whether they had any suggestions, & they did point out that if the primary doctor doesn't give a verdict soon the hospital will be calling her to find out what's going on.  That'll force her to do something.  The waiting is just driving me nuts!

I thought my appointment wasn't until tomorrow, but when I looked at my day planner this morning I realized it was scheduled for 10:45...
Good thing I called to confirm, though, because they said they had CANCELLED it because I was there last Fri!
After some calling around I was able to confirm that they had received the results of my ECG, but golly-gee-whiz, the doctor was just too darn busy to squeeze me in today (grrrr!)  My surgeon's office even tried calling & got put on hold for over half an hour; they never did get to talk to anyone!
Finally, in absolute frustration, I drove over to the doctor's office & said, "I know you guys have my results; I'll wait here until the doctor can see me."  Well, the receptionist found them, put them on the doctor's desk, & even pointed them out to her as she was coming out of an appointment.  Her response?  "I don't have time to look at this right now.  I have appointments all day.  I'll try to get to it later this afternoon or this evening."  I said, "Yes, because you people cancelled MY appointment without telling me!"  (Can you believe they denied the appointment had ever been made -- even though they called me twice about it last week & actually TOLD me this morning that it had been cancelled!)  The receptionist kind of laughed & said, "Yeah, sometimes this happens...we don't know what's going on until, like, a couple days before the surgery."  I just stared at him!
Well, of course, I never heard anything back from the doctor, so I still don't know what's going on.  I am livid!!!
Needless to say, I will be calling starting at 8am sharp tomorrow to see what I can find out!
In the meantime, I called an entirely different doctor who has a private practice & made arrangements to switch over to him immediately after my surgery.  (Of course, I'm keeping that under wraps with my current Dr. for the time being.)  I've never been happy with that clinic, & I will never, ever deal with them gain!...& I will be sure to write a letter to their administrator telling him exactly why!

Okay.  My PCP has now had my echocardiogram results on her desk for THREE FULL DAYS (!!!), yet she maintains that she is still "too busy" to look at them.  I cannot go through with my surgery on the 10th until she gives me clearance.  I am beyond livid!  I've called there about 16 times, gone over there in person, & had my surgeon's office call twice.  Nothing.  I'm going to be there again when they open the doors tomorrow at 8:30am.  If I still can't get any results I am going to ask to speak to the clinic administrator.  (If my PCP just can't get around to it can't they have another doctor there look at them?)  This is absolutely outrageous!  And I can't even describe the complications it has caused at my workplace, with all the last-minute arrangements I need to make, & for the caregivers who are supposed to be coming in from out of town to help me out....not to mention the extra unnecessary stress this is causing me right before this mega-major surgery.
At this point, if she doesn't approve it, or if I need additional tests - or a second opinion - I have lost my window of opportunity to do so in time for the surgery.
And aside from all the angst over whether I'll be able to go through with my surgery, isn't all this extra time taking an unnecessary risk if there really is something wrong with my heart?

Whatever happens with this, you need to find a new PCP!   If you have made this much contact with her office and she is still not inclined to help, what would happen in a medical emergency?

If and when you leave the practice you should make sure you state that you have lost faith in her abilities as a caregiver and a professional!

Oh, I have already made arrangements to switch PCP's at the end of this month.  I have an initial appointment with a private doctor who has treated many bariatric patients & just recently had gastric bypass surgery himself.
And as soon as I'm sure all my records have been sent over & everything, I intend to write a very strongly-worded letter, which I will cc to all the powers that be at that clinic.  Maybe they're not concerned about losing a patient, & maybe all of this will seem like no big deal to them, but it will make me feel much better to speak up for myself...& if I can inconvenience HER life a little bit, so much the better!

Why don't you get a copy of the results and personally hand them in to your surgeon yourself? Who cares what the pcp says? It is the judgment of the surgeon and/or cardiologist that matters.

Her lack of cooperation IS outrageous. I'm glad you are firing her.

Meanwhile, it is better that your surgeon has as clear a picture as possible about what risks you might encounter during surgery. So, a small part of this glitch is a good thing.

And taking off the weight will be the best thing you can do for your heart going forward.

Hoping things start to go more smoothly for you!

Hmm...that's a good idea.  I wonder whether that would work?  I'll have to call my surgeon's office in the morning & find out.
At this point, I'm really starting to fear that she will simply ignore ALL requests for a decision.  She seems to be remarkably good at avoiding phone calls, even from my surgeon's office.  Can she legally do that?  I dunno...but if it happens like that I will definitely be making a formal complaint to the Dept. of Health.

I know you have a legal right to copies of your records including tests. You may have to pay a small per page fee for them, but you have a right to a copy.

I self paid in MX, but my surgeon still required a various battery of tests and health history. Rather than worry about it, I got all the copies myself, scanned them, and emailed them myself to the surgeon's office. No guesswork involved and I could resend anything they might claim to not have received immediately.

Find out what your surgeon is specifically missing, go to the pcp office, and insist on a copy before you walk out the door. She can analyze it any time she wants, your surgeon needs the test results NOW.

Good luck to you! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I AM CLEARED FOR SURGERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was at the PCP's office when they opened the doors this morning.  I walked up to the receptionist, told her who I was (she recognized my name right away), & said, "I need to get this resolved.  What do I need to do?  Who do I need to talk to?"  The receptionist disappeared for a few mins then came back out & told me I was cleared.  Thank the gods!
