Diabetes A1C

I was diagnosed type 2 last fall. Since then I thnk I've done well on just metaformin 2x a day. My surgeon's office just called with my blood work results and my A1C was 5.7 which I'm happy about. I have not lost any weight though. Would diabetes this controlled still have you consider WLS?

Absolutely I would do it to get off the meds. When you are med free with an A1c of 5.0 you'll be happy you did it.

Totally. Wy continue to have to take medication to control it when you don't have to? Medication will likely not continue to control it...

My WLS decision was highly influenced by the fact that diabetes runs in both sides of my family. I wasn't diabetic, and I wanted to do everything I could to stay that way.

Absolutely.  Being off prescription meds for hi b/p and Diabetes II was the best part.  Of course, I'm taking all the vitamins and supplements, but that's no problem.  At least I don't have to worry about losing my eyesight, or parts of my body being amputated.

I had type-2 diabetes before surgery and was taking meds to control it and my A1C was always awesome. After surgery, I am not longer diabetic and my A1C is still awesome without meds :)
