Anyone else having/had their surgery at a military facility?

Where do you live?  I'm in the DFW area, and I've been driving down to SA for all of my testing.  Hence the consideration of using a civ MD instead.

I hope you get your actual date soon!  I think waiting is the hardest part!

I live in Corpus Christi.  I'd use a civilian doc but Tricare doesn't cover the sleeve, does it?

It does cover the sleeve now :) That's how I got it.

Hi Kate!  I am a doctor, and had my RNY done at BAMC last November.  It was a great experience that was essentially seamless.  I shared a room the first night where they watch you a little closer and then got moved to the "penthouse" up on the 7th (?) floor of the new addition.  I had Dr. Pfluke and he was very responsive and had great communication with the residents caring for me.  You'll be in good hands!

That's interesting that Tricare covers the sleeve now.  It certainly would be much more convenient to have it done locally but I've done this whole journey with BAMC and feel very comfortable about having the surgery there.  I think I'm going to stick with BAMC.

txangel, It's quite impressive to get a recommendation from a doctor!  Thank you for sharing your experience.

No, No! Tricare does NOT cover the sleeve or the DS. The will allow you to have it at a MTF only!

 m1=23, M2=11, M3=4(had stall for 3wks), M4=6 M5=6 M6=6 M7=4 M8=3

I am a VSG to DS revison!
