Family member is having fluid removed from his lap band, per his choice. S/P lap band procedure ~28 months. How long after fluid removal will his esophagus/stomach be patent, i.e. return to normal? After 28 months, I say it will take some time. He disagrees.

Honestly, it may never return to pre-banded state.  There is often scar tissue in there, especially is he is having fluid removed because of problems.

After a fill or unfill, I usually do liquids for about 2 days to let any swelling/trauma settle down.

Not quite clear what has happened. If he has had no problems at all, things will be "normal" straight away although the simple presence of the band itself obviously affects the tissue. If he has had fluid removed because of oesophageal problems, then it may take anything from weeks to never! Can you tell us a bit more?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
