Goal of the Month: Strive to Maintain a Healthy Heart!
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States; one in every three deaths is from heart disease and stroke, equal to 2,200 deaths per day.-Source: CDC
The month of February is American Heart Month. So how can you help to maintain a healthy heart this month and in the years to come? Here are a few helpful tips:
1. Live an active lifestyle! Move it to lose it!
2. Take action to relieve stress in your life.
3. Eat and maintain a healthier diet.
4. Set small, healthy daily goals.
5. Be aware! Know your family's hearth health history.
OH Members share some of their goals to maintain a healthier lifestyle and healthy heart:
Be a good example of healthy eating to my kids. , I am going to write in my food diary everyday no matter what I eat or don’t eat.
Get to my goal weight and balance the enjoyment of food with a healthy lifestyle, CUT DOWN ON FAST FOOD, Start Walking 3 times a week, Seek Out counseling to deal w/emotional eating issues, start making better choices of food I’m eating, Climb stairs without being short of breath, to be pain free and have no more heart attacks
