You wrote in another post that you have severe here.  You should NOT be having  the VSG!  It is high pressured and will make your condition worse then eventually you'll need to revise to the gastric bypass.  PPI's are nice to not to need long term.  The thing is someone else mentioned you should not be getting a sleeve due to your GERD.  What is your doctor saying.  Remember you get to live with you for the rest of your life.

All best!

Sue,

You will be very "normal"!  You will be free from obesity!  No worries, you got this!  Let's get normal not superman/woman.  You'll see how cool that is.

best,

Layla

If you want to lose weight to go on the Amazing race or to join the US Armed forces or NASA or something, go on a strict diet and exercise program.  You'd be risk for a heart attack at a 55 BMI for any of these super fit required programs as stands.

Um, no our stomachs don't explode.  We are not freaks.  Being obese you are more of a freak.  Have you tried doing any sports or exercise as a pre-op?  It seems you want to be super athletic post-op but usually people have a spark pre-op.  Overweight people can be athletic, they can exercise regularly!  For most of us, it is our diet of too many calories especially simple carbs that gets us in trouble

All best to you,

L

Hope you feel better.  Achieving the dream of having babies is great.

Sadly we can't blame metabolic issues or  genetics for eating too much & exercising too little.

Just curious - why look at the memorials upon returning after a long time?

If you know of any deaths, maybe you should update.

Topic: RE: Chart

My best friend just had VSG 2 months? ago.  It was odd going over what seemed like every bit of my journey that I had forgotten.

I told her I just focused like a laser beam getting my water, protein, and vitamins in.  The first 10 days I also shot myself up with Lovenox (blood thinner) 2x's per day.  I was like a machine.  Though I was working, there were days that I did not even know what day it was.  Getting my body what it needed was simply priority.  There really was nothing else.  The thing is it is work those first days.  We can't gulp our water or protein it's - sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ... sip ...  sip ... sip... sip all fricken day.  It's exhausting but it is all that matters if you want to be okay.

Not sure that there is any post-op chart available.  What you can do is create your own check off list and run off some copies for daily use.

Best,

Layla

You are special Lady T.!  There will be some other person on here one day like the O.P. and they will need to be directed to you because we all need to relate and sometimes on a mirroring level.  Like I'd come to you humbled if I had to be rewired a "hybrid" like you.

Interesting on the lengthening of your common channel!  My doc at some point was doing the DS with a standard 200 or 250cc - things change though.  I think Melissa Mermaid - I may be remembering wrong may have a much shorter common channel as she was one of his earlier DSes.

Have a wonderful day

and thanks for the info.  I try my best and file it and pass it along when the need presents itself.

So LadyT., could I just think of yours and the OP's surgery as a distal RNY?  This is what I've thought of yours.  Enlighten me.

in your case did they just change your sleeve into a pouch and leave your DS intestines as is?

Hope you are well.

Yeah, that is true. I had a band that fit like a bracelet on a ring finger.  It is like you have never had WLS at all without restriction.  I had lots of bumps and was not able to tolerate restriction until my 3rd year.  It also is not loosened nor tightened with wreckless abandon.  Sometimes it can tighten on it's own when flying, changing climates - humidity, a woman's cycle, etc.  So sometimes a slight unfill/loosening when traveling is a great idea.  It can keep you out of an emergency situation.

Once on vacation to P.R.  my band did not start off tight at all but the flight did something terrible to me - I suppose my stomach inside the band swelled.  The entire trip I could only eat ice cream.  I had my niece and nephew who were young teens with me.  I choked and choked at night and truly believed I needed medical intervention - a pill I took was stuck for 2 days.  That band!

Christie probably can eat - no problem!   Ryan probably can't eat!  I swear this is true.  People hate to admit that if they can eat, they do.  I only lost with the band after the 3rd year because I actually had "restriction" and because I was terrified of choking in my sleep - so I would not eat at night. Now with my Sleeve, it is so gentle and easy on me that I choose to eat most times  . . .  because I can.

Best,

Layla

And a lot of addictions she had - Alcohol, and marijuana daily when she could not eat.  She had a lot of SERIOUS transfer addictions.

This is hard stuff like forever.  There is a commercial that they run over and over in my area for a drug treatment center - " I USED to be addicted to crack,   I USED to be addicted to alcohol,  I USED to be addicted to crystal meth,  I USED to be addicted to prescription drugs . . . on and on and on.  I look at each one of these faces with their words and think buddy, you are mistaken if you believed you USED to be an addict!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Topic: RE: Is this really Carnie Wilson fall 2015?

No, she put on weight long before that - though now she is the biggest ever post-op.  It was Bells Palsy she was diagnosed with which my uncle had and never gained an ounce (it doesn't cause weight gain). It's caused by facial nerve damage.  She's had a tremendous amount of plastic surgery everywhere including her face!  She I believed posed extensively in the nude for Playboy (or girl - the one for men lol) after she lost the weight and had plastic surgery everywhere.

The point is she is like every single one of us, no better.  Even when you have everything money can buy  personal trainer, chef, clean food delivery, programs), addiction to food, compulsive eating and lack of exercise can easily win out.

This picture is very recent.  I looked again and it is dated September 2015.  Her daughter Lola looks the right age to be now.

I have always wished nothing but the best for her since the beginning.  I hope she pulls it together if she feels uncomfortable.  Saddest part is she has made a huge impact on her daughters.  Lola seemed to have had a weight issue very early on.  I did too and it did not resolve.

I wish everyone success and the absolute best life - this includes Carnie!

Maybe I am wrong (I am in NYC $$$$$)! A motel for a few days would be more costly than the $150- cab ride. My concern would be how this person would manage herself and costs post weight loss surgery.
