has anyone had the WLS and found a significant amount of relief from your arthritis - specifically osteoarthritis in legs and knees also specifically a morbidly obese patient

Dear Elaine, I will be 62 in the fall and had RNY surgery in November 2002 and am down 120 pounds now from 367. I have osteo in both knees and have had a great deal of relief. I was almost totally wheelchair bound before and can walk for short distances now with only a cane. Both knees have significant damage and I may consider replacement when I get the rest of the weight off. RA however crept in after the surgery and I'm on methotrexate and Humira injections, that have helped a lot. In my case the weight loss has helped with osteo-arthritis but doesn't seem to help the RA. God Bless. Diane
