Topic: Tournament coming up, is it too soon?
I'm only one week out today from my surgery and I'm scheduled to bowl a tournament Fathers Day weekend, like the 15th of June-ish. I was just wondering if you guys think I'll be able to do it? or is that too soon.

Hello. Glad to hear that you got back into bowling again after 15 years. I have now bowled in about 20 years or so. My bowling is not hat that good too. I was lucky to get up to 100 or a little more. I just had weight loss surgery last year. I am hoping to start bowling again again after I lose more weight and get ride of the hanging skin and fat. After that is said and done, I can get back into the bowling world and try to be good at it, so, I can join a bowling league again. The only time I was in a bowling league when I was a kid in the Pee Wee League (1982-1983). I got a 3rd place trophy. I would like to win another one. One of these days. I hope you did get that 100 pins.

Topic: Late season average gone up 35 pins
I had open RNY June 3 05 and started bowling in Sept same year. My average started out a modest 153 for first three nights. Now that I have lost a total of 112 pounds and played 20 of 28 nights my 3 night average has gone up 35 pins to 188! High game 257, high series 608. Not too shabby. Two more night to play and hope I can keep it up. Rich

    Topic: RE: Any 300 Games???
I have had two 300's but haven't had one since 2001. I also have 4 299's and 3 298's. I am still waiting for insurance to approve my surgery. I bowl now in 2 leagues and can only imagine how much more fun it will be when I have surgery and be able to move better because of the less weight. I absolutely love to bowl and average around 200 but I do feel I will get better when I lose weight..

    Topic: First time bowling post-op
I just had my first night bowling since my surgery June 3, 05 (3 1/2 months out). To confuse things a little more the alleys were changed over the summer from natural wood to an artificial surface. My super hook was more of a straight ball and it took two games to figure it out. my third game was a 213 but I only had a 470 series. My abdominal muscles were a little sore last night but feel fine now. best wishes, Rich

Topic: RE: Any help for a newbie?
Thanks Kevin My BF loves bowling, has had the surgery and his game went down for quite some time while he adjusted to the new center of gravity, etc... he just managed to bowl his first 300 since the surgery though back in feb, so he's happy again... but wants another 800 series. I have been thinking of getting my own shoes and wrist brace first of all, and also was considering a blue dot but hadn't actually bought any of it yet... I have a feeling I'll buy this stuff and be no good at it, I currently have a 55 average, and that's only because of my occaional 100 game LOL... Thanks for answering! Rachel

Topic: Any help for a newbie?
I just thought I'd show up and see if there are any hints and tips for me available. My bf is a great bowler, and I'd love to be able to bowl with him, but I stink at it... he seems to think a wrist brace (I have arthritis) will help me some, but I have no idea... I have no equiptment either... so, lay it on me, what do I need to do to learn how to bowl??? Rachel

    Topic: RE: Any 300 Games???
Jen, You posted this about a month ago and I am just now exploring this board. My hubby has several 300 games and I have had a 297 & 298 (plus a 797 series). I am not bowling league right now, but when I did, (pre-op) I carry between a 185 to 195 average. I can't wait to start bowling again when some of this weight comes off. I surely hope it will improve my form and my scores. I am 6 weeks out this week and think that I may join a short league in January, but not too sure right now. My husband is still bowling Men's TCBA in Dallas. I used to bowl it for a few years and with my 797 made the record books for high series. It's been beat now, but I think I am still on the record book list. I hope everything goes OK w/ DH and that he rocks the house when he gets his game back!!! Take care! Beth

Congratulations! With a 66 average you can certainly bowl 100 pins over. Just a warning tho, each time I've gotten one, they broke w/in 3 weeks...I think they want to encourage you to get them often! Congrats, again! Keep us posted on your average this year! Jennifer

I started bowling a few weeks ago with a friend of mine. Hadn't bowled in probably 15 years??? Well, anyways when he asked me to bowl with him and two other people I informed him that I sucked! We bowl on wed. night league and tonight I bowled the same score in all three games!!!! I was excited. It was only a 91 but it was 25 pins over my average, I was absolutely thrilled. Then the best news came. He told me I would get a patch for a triple score!! Then I was really up and down a whole bunch. Just had to share my excitement. Maybe next week I can get 100 pins over my average and get the watch!!! and then maybe not!! thanks for listening.. Trac

Topic: RE: WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU HAVE
I have 3 balls, and I'm thinking of trading one in. I have a TKO Contender (16#); a Teal Storm (15#); and a burgundy Hammer. (usually my spare ball...14#) I use the contender for long oil, the storm for medium conditions, and the hammer for dry & spares. I'm thinking about getting a Triple X, and eliminating the Contender, because it just doesn't hit as hard anymore. I started bowling when I married my hubby(1989), who taught me everything. My highest series is 696, and my highest game is a 300 (last year) my hubby doesn't have one, yet, so he was proud and jealous... Both of my kids bowl. My daughter is in her second year, and my son is in his 10th year. I coach on Saturdays and the travel team from our house on Sundays. I bowl 2x a week (Tuesday & Wednesday). I currently carry a 173 average, which is mainly because of my tendency to rush the line when I am aggravated about the spare I just left. My pet peeves are people who blame the lanes and their equipment for their crappy bowling. My email addresses are all luv2bowljen...comcast, yahoo, msn... I LOVE BOWLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
