This is a two-part question. 1. What are some foods that are low in carbs, fat grams and calories? 2. What is a good daily intake for a WLS patient for carbs, fat grams and calories? Many Blessings, Marilyn Lexington, KY 341/263/175 3/27/03 (-78lbs)

Hi Marilyn, I limit my carbs to under 30-40 a day. I don't eat anything with more than 16 carbs in it. Fat and calories really don't matter to me and most recent RNY patients since we malabsorb fat and can't eat enough to count calories. However, I eat around 900-1000 calories a day when I track it on fitday.com. You can get alot of this information plus more from http://www.fitday.com

Like Ro, I try and limit my carb intake to 40 gm per day. RNY'ers don't absorb fat so I don't worry about that as much as I do the carbohydrates. I stay away from the simple carbs: rice, white potatoes, bread, milk, and cereal. Complex carbs are the best for you. I eat fruit and veggies (no corn, basically legumes). Hope this helps, Gayzelle
