my puppy is in heat

HI I have a 8 month old chihuahua that is in heat.. I know it last for about 3 weeks , but I was wondering , do they bleed the whole three weeks? I was going to breed her about her third heat.. But I don't want anything to go wrong so I think I might get her spayed. I can't make up my mind. thins stuff is not fun.

H Sheila, I know what you mean its a tough decision to breed or spay, I have a minuature schnauzer, and she is in heat right now too. If your dog is a house dog, I would keep a diaper on her the whole time they will have a little discharge, throughout the whole time, and it will lessen when the swelling goes down. I have cute little red ruffled panties on my dog and she is so cute. Spaying is good since there are so many strays, and homeless dogs, and the shelters are overflowing. Good luck :0) Rosemary

they do not bleed the whole 3 weeks. I think in the 2nd week when most bleeding occurs but not sure. I hope to spay my female chihuahua soon. lisa
