Auto Immune diagnosis?

My dog was just diagnosed as having auto immune. With medication I'm told her chances are 50/50. Has anyone else ever had a dog with this problem? How did it turn out? Thanks, Savanah

Hi Savanah, I had a collie that was having problems with sensitivities to EVERYTHING! I had to begin feeding her hand prepared natural food. Her diagnoses was Horners Syndrome. There are a number of Auto-Immune diseases that can take a foothold in dogs. You probably need to ask your vet to be more specific as to what he/she means by auto-immune disease and ask questions. I really get upset with a vet that has an authoritarian demeanor...expecting the animals owner to stand on the word that he/she speaks! That is your pet and a member of your family and you have a right to know what the vet is thinking. If you get no resopnse, I would look into changing vets! Best wishes in treating this. Back to natural is often what a vet will not suggest. Check out altvetmed.com and http://www.dogomania.com Greer
