Just a quick question. How long after your surgery did it take for you to poop?

I think I was 2 days after, but also remember that each hospital gives you different food and/or vitamins so that will change things...

I think it was closer to a week for me.  Then they put me on stool softeners and Milk of Magnesia (but don't try these things without speaking to your clinic first!).

Out on Thursday and (sorry for this) a real nasty black half diahreah on Friday. All that stuff they pumped in coming out. Nothing in hospital. Next one 4 days later. I guess we are all over the map on this one. The clinic called to see how I was and didnt think it was a problem unless diareah continued.

How are you? I have heard as long as 10 days for some.

Yeah - eight days for me, and lots of trouble afterward, until I figured out what *my* innards required (NOT fibre).

Took me almost two months to get to a comfortable level of pooping.

For me it was about 10 days! 3 days preop and 7 days after. Ended up taking lactulose and lax a day.
