best Christmas present....yaaa
Hi Deb,
That is GREAT news !!!!!! I met with my family doc the other day and we were discussing Panni removal and she said that it is never covered by OHIP..I argued with her about it and she was certain that it never is. If you don't mind me asking what steps did you go through? I feel like I n eed to educate my doctor but she does not listen.....I am almost 1 year out..how far after surgery did you start this process for panni?
Thanks
Kelly

You're doctor is an idiot.
I love it when they argue stuff like that - panni has been covered by OHIP for YEARS - in fact, they used to cover full tummy tucks!
All you need to do is ask her to refer you to a surgeon who works with OHIP - just tell her that you want to explore your options for OHIP and self-pay. And that if she refers you, you don't have to pay for the consult part.
It is best if you have documented issues with your panni (rashes etc.)...but for some surgeons, this isn't necessary - your surgeon can see evidence of your issues even without an active infection (scaring etc).
Dr. Nandagopal in Scarborough, or Dr. Mattic (sp?) in London are two dr's I've seen on here a lot who are very familiar with OHIP and often get people covered for a panni. I'd start with one of those if I were you.
Good luck!
