 Hey everyone ,

I hAve a question about heparin and my period, my hemoglobin was at 90 when
I left the hospital and im scared that I'm gonna lose tons of blood.

Hope someone has a similar experience and can answer

I struggled very badly with hemoglobin after the surgery. I had to have 3 blood transfusions after the second surgery. I left the hospital at 83 with my period. I was tested again 2 days letter and was up to 92. The blood thinner does start your period but it is differen****ery.
Just keep an eye on how you feel if you get super dizzy or very weak go back to the hospital.

Hi Rosie,
I am not a doctor and I think you should speak with him or her.
Given that heparin is an anticoagulant, it does stand to reason that it may impact the clotting ability of your mentrual blood. But as to whether it will affect the actual amount of your mentrual blood, I am not sure. At 9 g/dL, your Hb is low as the normal is between 12.0 g/dL to 16.0 g/dL so I agree that you don't want to lose more blood. Keep your legs amovin' and give your doc a call tomorrow or call the hospital and speak with one of the nurses on the unit you were on.

forgive me for not remembering. Have you had your surgery yet? You need to keep an eye on your hgb.

Please contact the WLS, this really is a question for the professionals.

not sure what anemics go through..but this will sound strange..I am anemic..I have been since I had my RNY (3 years ago)..my doctor keeps an eye on it and luckily I don;t have any of the symptoms that regular anemics have

..I have just recently been to see an Internal Medicine Specialist and my next app't will be with a gynecologist.  I fthe gynecologist doens't do something , then it's back for an infusion

I don't believe that it will have a negative effect on your experience or surgery, but always make your surgeon/doctor aware of these things.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
