Ok so in small quantity I can have white pasta like 3/4 of a cup.  My question is.  Is white pasta so bad for you that it will have a negative affect in my weight lost?  Any impute would be appreciated!

There is that smart pasta that is white....not sure of the nutritional information on that.

I wouldn't have any pasta while in the weight loss mode. It's right up there with white bread and sugar in my books.

Everyone's weight loss is effected by different things. Personally, I eat white pasta on a regular basis with a much higher sauce to noodle ratio. I find whole wheat pasta harder to digest. I recommend Angel Hair because it is lighter. I don't think I would have been able to completely give up spaghetti.

I would have to agree with Tracey pasta is not a good idea.

I did eat some pasta early on in the solid food stage, but quickly determined that I didn't need it, and that to keep my carb ratio down, compared to protein consumption, I could live without it.  It was one of my trigger foods that helped get me to diabetes and other life threatening issues, so I have given it up...if not for ever, then definitely until I am well into my maintenance.  This goes for most other trigger and high carb foods.  Hope my philosophy helps!  Amy

Try brown rice pasta. It's soft like white but higher nutrician. Taste is the same as white.

There is a low carb / low glycemic pasta out there (read recent forums) but generally I guess carbs are the devil.

I don't bother with pasta anymore. I've had it a few times in the 16 months since surgery. It was a much-loved food for me before surgery, white or whole wheat, and i try to stay away from trigger foods.

Of course, now I have new trigger foods...but that's for me and the shrink to discuss lol
