I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!

Wow - her review of all of her past weight-loss attempt**** very close to home for me.  I was also surprised about the "fat" comments that she's getting now that she's closer to her goal weight.

I haven't told anyone but close friends about my surgery so far.  As I tell more people, I'm not looking forward to the "easy way out" comments - particularly as I now track/measure everything that goes into my mouth, and work out for 45 minutes each and every day. The weight is coming off more quickly, yes, but it's not without effort.

Referral - December 2011 * Orientation TWH - March 13th, 2012 * Nurse Practitioner - April 17th, 2012 * Nutrition Class - April 17th, 2012 * Social Worker - April 24th, 2012 * Dietician - May 1st, 2012 * Psych - May 1st, 2012 * Surgeon - August 17th, 2012 * PATTS - Sept. 12th, 2012 * SURGERY TEGH, Dr. Cyriac - October 16th, 2012

I've NEVER had "easy way out" comments. I think the people who know me, and who care about me, see how hard i work. the rest, who cares!

That's a really great perspective, Monica!  I've told the important people in my life, and so far everyone has been supportive.  If the rest aren't, I shouldn't care!

Her weight loss attempts are very similar to my own.  The whole struggle of losing and then plateauing even with continued exercise.  I wish they could figure out why that happens.

Now that I think about it that is why I get so stressed and freaked out about stalls.  Hitting a plateau with this weight loss program reminds me of failed attempts in the past.

For those of us who have gone through this surgery, we know that this is not "the easy way out."  Nothing about this is easy, but you have to live it to understand it.  I found this a very interesting article indeed.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I guess she was trying to be funny with her self deprecating comments, and some people get by that way, but it makes me a little sad.  I'm truly glad that she found her way to wls surgery, yet saddened by peoples comments.

I found some of her comments not true. I look at what veterans here eat and maintain on. They are not below 1000 calories unless trying to lose. I found her attempt to starve herself rather sad.

I thought the article was amusing at times and sad at others.  Not sure if she was really happy in the end with her WLS or just not happy with  how people responded to her after WLS?
