Happy New Year!

Just looking to see if there are any new folks going through the Kingston process? Any updates on wait times? I wish I wasn't so impatient! I will be better once the ball starts to roll!

Thanks

Hello, yes I am going through Kingston. I waited 4 months for my info session, but then it went fast. I have 2 tests to be done next week then I go back to see the nurse one more time to be completely cleared for my file to go to Toronto. So I was referred June 26th, orientation was Nov 7th. And I have seen the nurse once, the dietician and the nut already. They say if it all goes smooth, 6 months from orientation to surgery. So far, that seems about right.

At the end of the day it's really dependent on the co-morbidities that one has, and the wait time to get in to see any specialists advised by the team.  I was transferred to Kingston from Ottawa in May ( actually referred to the bariatric program in Aug 2011 ).  Due to some medications that I have to take quarterly my blood sugars were a point higher than is acceptable for surgery.  I had to agree to start using insulin ( YUCK ) and am finally meeting with a Dr. next week who will, hopefully, clear me for Toronto.  It's been a long drawn out process for me, but I've had time to make a great number of lifestyle changes that will help me after surgery is done.
