I had my Gallbladder out on Monday.  Doing fine, having a quiet day on my own (kids at daycare).

I am wondering as I have been really struggling with #2 what you do on a regular basis to stay regular.

What do you eat ?  Supplements ?  My DH suggested prunes but can we eat those ?  I have been taking Colace but know I can't stay on it forever.

I am 6 months out today from RNY !

Thanks :)

Amy

prunes are ok, as long as you can tolerate them.

Try adding some bran (not bran flakes or buds, but the actual bran you'd use to make muffins, you'll find it in the baking aisle) to yogurt or applesauce or something. I add a few tablespoons to something, every day. Make sure you get LOTS of fluids.

I also take lactulose on a daily basis, when things arent moving well

OT question - is there an issue with having the bran buds?  i bought some recently and replaced my granola with the bran buds on my yogourt.  I am 10 months out.  any advice is appreciated.

bran buds are fine, you just get more bang for your buck with the other kind. Less filler, more of what you really need.

I make granola that has a lot of fiber in it which I have every morning. If for some reason it doesn't work I have 3 prunes and that usually moves things.

LOL - you asked for it....  (5 months out)

I had a major problem with constipation because I needed to take meds that increases the problem (now that I do not have to open the capsules anymore it is better) - but I still need to be careful.

I use daily: AM:  1-2 prunes (and yes that is ok - has carbs for sure - but it also has some fiber) with oatmeal

AM: Benefiber in glass of water.  2 soflax.

Dulcolax sup. as needed (very rarely needed now) - and lactulose as needed.

Just an FYI, you might not be able to tolerate things like prunes further out. I used to be fine with grapes, then after a year out, if I had them alone, I started to dump. Grapes I can have when lots of protein is eaten first :-)

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

then maybe I am not a dumper. I eat grapes every day ( 6 to 10) unless as you are saying... it will change.  heart Hope not - because I love my fruits.
