I was wondering if anyone here had to have open RNY instead of Laproscopic ? If so what were the reasons? I am worried because i have had some previous abdominal surgeries . Thanks Krista..

I had tons of abdominal surgeries (4 major - across the tip of my breastbone and all the way down to my pelvic bone) and I was sure they would not be able to do it laparoscopicly. But they did. These teams have so much experience with the procedure - I think no other team would be able to - but they did it without any problems.

Might want to talk to your surgeon about it - but these guys are really superb!

Best of luck

I am wondering the same thing.   I've had 3 c-sections (and a tubal ligation while open) and my gallbladder removed laproscopically.   I've been told I should be fine :)   Good luck to you too!

Thank-you so much. I am also going to be going to HRRH, and i am hoping for Dr. Haggan to do my surgery as well. He seems to be very experienced with more complicated cases. Thanks again...

Nothing to worry about Krista, with Dr. Hagen you're in good hands.  My abdomen looks like a road map from previous surgeries and there's no problem.  He was able to do a VBG --> RnY conversion on me laproscopically.  It's been almost 5 weeks since my surgery and the lap incisions are barely noticeable!
