Hi all,  I've been to the info session and have seen all 4 of the varying professionals of the Bariatric clinic and now waiting to do a sleep study.  Do people get their surgery date immediately after their fourth meeting/appointment?  I noticed other "new" people like me at the clinic getting follow up appointments or getting an orange sheet once they finished all 4 appointments and I got neither....does this mean I'm not a good candidate for bariatric surgery?   I'm probably just thinking too much! LOL!

Staying Postive,

Hi and welcome!

From what I have read it depends on which program/hospital you are with.  It will also depend in if you need further tests or they have any concerns or not.

Welcome to the forum.

Which centre are you with?  If you are waiting for a sleep study, then you have not yet been cleared for surgery.  However, you qualify as far as weight (BMI) with out without co-morbidities, otherwise you would not have been referred.

Continue to be patient and your turn will come.

Yes like they all said it depends which hospital you are at.

I got cleared on the 25th after I saw all my specialists. When the medical internist asked me if I snored or was tired in the day I said no because I don't have that issue. But if you say yes he will send you for the sleep study and possibly more tests.

I don't think it means you are not a good candidate. They just want to see what health concerns you may have so as to fix them. And compare after maybe?

I am in my iPhone but hopefully my signature comes up still. You can see my timeline from HRRH. It will be roughly 7 months from applying to surgery. And 3 months from first appointment to surgery. But again depends which hospital and what health concerns they have.

I wish you good luck and I hope things go super smooth for you!!

I forgot to add, once you get cleared from your tests and see your surgeon. That is when he sells you the opti and gives you the date. HRRH anyway.

So if I had to guess, I would say after your sleep study, once you see your surgeon you will get your date.

Thank you so much everyone for your replies!  Yes I'm at HRRH and after spending a good portion of my morning reading through many posts on here, I figure I'm being normal and just as nervous as other newbies!  I'm just so eager to start a new life! :)

I'm already enjoying how informative this site is as well as how supportive you all are!

Thank you again,
