Weight loss pre op

Hi everyone...me again!!!

Was wondering I cant remember if there was a specific weight amount they want you to loose prior to surgery? When would you know if your liver has shrunk or is it a guess and hope for the best and if not sew you up and ship you off with no surgery done.

I was never given a specific amount to lose. My surgeon's staff did ask me to phone in with the amount that I lost each week (I was on Opti for 4 weeks). If I hadn't been losing enough, I'm sure there would have been discussions about whether my surgery needed to be post-poned. I think that as long as you do lose some, there isn't that big of an issue. There's always the chance that during surgery, a person's liver size becomes a problem and surgery has to be stopped. Maybe ask your surgeon for a more specific answer?
