Post Surgery time off
With 4 of my 6 assessment appointments done tomorrow, things are moving at quite the pace! Since my work wants as much notice as possible regarding time off, I had a question for those who have had the surgery: How much time off does one really need? The orientation said to take 4 weeks, but that seemed excessive to me. Maybe they're thinking time to adjust? I ask because this way, once I have my surgery date, I can book the appropriate time off.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
My surgeon wrote 2-6 weeks on my forms, so of course work started with only granting 2 weeks of short-term disability. I most likely could have pushed for more by getting another note from my family doc or surgeon, but I was actually feeling quite well after the first week and a half or so. I ended up working from home for 1 week, and going back into the office after 3 weeks.
It really depends on what type of work you do (I have a desk job and can eat/drink at anytime), and how you're feeling post-op (I had a really good recovery).
Congrats on being so close to your surgery - exciting times!

I am 5 weeks post op. My note said 4-6 weeks. I returned at 4 weeks and have modified hours for last week and this week. I do have a desk job...but found I am very tired. I was surprised at how tired I really am. The bdy needs time to heal, and everyone is different. I would go with what your surgeon says. And depending how u feel after ur surgery. Good luck.
