With less then four weeks away from my surgery date, I had my pre op appointment today and Dr.Smith has decided that the sleeve is the best choice for me! I have to admit I am a bit shocked..... I have educated myself on the roux en y, so for any "sleevers" out there that have any advice, I would surely welcome it!

Hello

I am a sleever and I love mine. I have had no real issue's at all except for the first month I had really bad reflux and for some reason I could not drink water plain other then that every thing is great.

We follow the same plan as RNYers the only difference we have is we do not get dumping syndrome instead I get the foamies if I eat too much or too fast. What is the foamies it is excess salvia that builds up and pressure in the stomach ad then I throw up and feel great again.

We also can swallow pills right after surgery, plus we have less restrictions with food.

I am 5months out and have lost 98 lbs sp far I also follow the plan and do not eat, bread, pasta, rice.

Go the VSG board there is a lot of information there.

I had great success with the VSG and you will too!  It matters not which surgery you get but what your attitude is in being on the right path to success.  Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have!

I agree with pinkjellybean and Nanato2, great advice ladies!

I'm very happy with my VSG as well, I still have some food intolerances and now issues with my gall bladder, but my new lifestyle has changed my life so much, l can't even begin to tell you how much better your going to feel next year at this time. I am down 220 lbs and l still have some to lose, but there is so many more things l am able to do now and enjoy.

I wish you all the best, your surgery is getting so close now, that's so exciting!! angry

Ladies you have given me some fabulous advice... The " word on the street" is that you don't loose as much with the sleeve... I have a substantial amount to loose... What do you feel has been keys to your success?

I think the info on not losing as much with VSG must be inaccurate.  Go check out the VSG forum...

I've really liked my sleeve - and have lost 120lbs since pre-op...and I have to admit, I haven't been "perfect".

A reliance on NSAIDS for arthritis, etc, possibly pre-existing bowel/gastro issues?  Extremely high BMI...

Some doctors are doing it increasingly...
