So I just got home and went to drug store and got some of the children's Tylenol. I am worried though now that I got the wrong kind with too muh sugar in it. There was no other options..... Are they all the same?

I believe that there is a sugar free type. However you can crush the tylenol and save some cash. I buy the extra stregnth Equate brand and cru**** when needed

yes they are sugar free ( real sugar that is). That is what I got in the hospital.

I did check myself post - op and yes it is ok to use.

Did you ask the pharmacist or show him/her what the doctor prescribed...?    Otherwise maybe try another pharmacy?

When I was discharged from the hospital, I went to the HRRH pharmacy to fill my prescription from the doctor and they gave me the kids cherry flavored generic Tylenol and its sweetened with sorbitol.

liquid tylenol makes me gag big time!  Use a pill splitter to split the tylenol tablets into smallish size parts if the liquid doesn't agree with you.

I heard of folks not liking the liquid children's tylenol.  They had suggested the children's chewable tablets, however, since each tablet only has 80 mg of acetominaphen, then you need to have approx 7 tablets to equal one extra strength adult one.  Using a pill splitter on an adult tylenol is probably best.

When I had my surgery at Toronto Eastern Hospital last week, they didn't even CRUSH the meds! They gave them to me whole to take with 30 ml of water! One little medicine cup, 2 big pills! Also, I was told that I no longer need to crush any pills. Just take them whole! Ya, I was surprised too!

Some people can swallow pills no problem. I cannot, there is just no way I can get it down with so little H2O. Do what is comfortable for you. I think that it was just nasty and uncaring for you to be given whole pills just being freshly post-op... lazy nurses
