Just curious about something!
Because I went through Kingston and surgery in Ottawa, I have two sets if different ideals it seems in terms if diet stages etc. but bottom line is, you move along when you feel comfortable, careful not to stay too long in any one place.
What my question is, I am going into the puréed stage now and then onto normal. At this point, wht is the recommended calorie, fat and anything else other that I need to worry about other than protein.
I'm just not sure what to aim for !!
Thanks!
M

At this stage you need to just focus on getting all your protein in. Once you have had enough protein add some veg. Carbs should be low. Check out the What are you eating tag. I know Krista has been doing really well and she is a new post op

I am SO sick of soup that I am jealous you get to move on to pureed now. I have to wait until I go back later this week for my post-op visit.

Glad to hear you're doing well, though!

And see, they finally did spring me!

Hi Erin

So did they determine what was wrong? When were you released?
Yes I am doing well, no real pain only when I pu**** and eating has been done so far.
How are you doing?

I had a leak AND an part of my bowel that had died that they had to cut out. My kidneys had almost completely shut down.

They finally released me on Friday but I still have 2 drains in and an abscess in one of my ports so I have a homecare nurse come every day and I'm pretty housebound - even walking around the house is still pretty difficult. That said I'm glad to be in my own bed. I just wish I wasn't out of painkillers.

I go in on Wednesday to have one of the drains removed, but the other one will be in for 6 weeks.

They said with my complications I'm actually healing remarkably quickly and you know what? I still don't have any regrets.

Glad you sound like you're doing so well.

Wow you have had a rough go of it-was the dead bowel and kidney a result of the surgery/leak or something prior?  I wish you a speedy recovery and I hope you don't run into any more bumps in the road.  I know one lady on here had every complication that you could imagine and I see the pics of her now and she looks fantastic.  I couldn't believe how strong she was.  All the best!
